KUALA LUMPUR - All candidates who will represent Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 15th General Election (GE15) on Nov 19 took an oath not to deviate and betray trust when they become leaders.

BN election director and Rembau parliamentary candidate Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan read out the pledge as others followed during the candidate announcement ceremony last night.

Among the promises outlined in the oath is to be faithful, protect and defend the sovereignty of the country, and not to betray the trust of the people as well as not to abuse the power given.

The candidates also pledge allegiance and swear to abide by all the terms in the contract with the party as it has been signed.

Also mentioned in the swearing-in is that the elected must resign as a Member of Parliament if they were to be fired or leave the party.

BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his speech prior to the announcement said there are three main principles that the party's candidates need to follow and practice if they win the contested seats in GE15.

The three main principles are obedience, regular service and consensus.
