SHAH ALAM - BN's decision to place new faces in the 15th general elections (GE15) is part of the party's rejuvenation plan in ensuring youth under 40 are given space in the party.

BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said all parties need to accept the fact that voters under 39 represent 50 per cent of voters in the country.

"We need to ensure BN Puteri and Youth wings are in the right track. That is why Umno Puteri Chief, State Puteri Chief, Umno Youth need to have their place and position.

"We need to change, in politics no one person is indispensable but at the same time all are important. Those who have been in politics for a long time should give way and become a role model for BN while youths take their positions to renew the continuity of leadership." he said in a statement today.

Last night, BN announced candidates for GE15 along with several names of Umno warlords such as Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and Tan Sri Annuar Musa dropped from the race.

He explained a detailed screening was done to avoid harmful behaviour to BN.

"Congratulations to those selected. You are among the many in BN who fulfilled the 'Wali' or winnability, acceptability and likeability criteria to win elections.

"It was not an easy to make bitter decisions. But a firm, brave and wise decision was needed in an effort to restore and rise in BN," he said.

He further asked party members not to provoke any dissatisfaction and anger or "protests, snitching, sabotaging and even try to close the operations room and give statements that could ruin the party's reputation."
