KUALA SELANGOR - A visually impaired policeman did not give up his responsibility to the country when he arrived at the early voting centre at the Kuala Selangor district police headquarters (IPD) on Tuesday.

Corporal Abdullah Sidee Mohamed, 34, said he was very excited to vote in the 15th General Election (GE15) and was one of the first to arrive at the polling centre.

He said that the voting process was assisted by a friend of his, Corporal Amir Osman to go to the polling centre which opened at 8am.

“I feel relieved to be able to fulfil my responsibilities as a citizen and hope that the country continues to remain stable in the future," he told Sinar Harian on Tuesday.

Abdullah said GE15 was the second time he voted with vision problems.

He explained that he had a problem with a large tumor on the optic nerve since 2017.

"Even though I'm not perfect, I don't want to miss the opportunity to be one of the voters who decide the future of the country," he said.

Abdullah, who worked in the Logistics Division and Transport Branch of IPD Kuala Selangor said that the voting process was also easy and was guided by Election Commission (EC) officers.

Meanwhile, Kuala Selangor District Police Chief Superintendent Ramli Kasa became the first voter to carry out his duties at the polling centre at IPD Kuala Selangor.

As a leader, he wanted to show the best example to personnel and officers to implement the practice of democracy in this country.

"I am always moving forward not only in voting matters, but in all aspects to be an example to the police here.

"I waited half an hour earlier before the door of the polling centre opened and at that time there were only about 10 to 15 officers and personnel started queuing," he explained.

Asked about the voting process at IPD Kuala Selangor, Ramli said a total of 421 personnel and officers voted early on four channels in the district.

He said the three channels are at IPD Kuala Selangor and one channel at Tanjong Karang Police Station.

"EC's preparation has been done since 7am and the early voting process is done at 8am.

"As of 9.20 this morning, the voting process went smoothly and many personnel and officials came out to vote," he said.
