KEPALA BATAS - A male student was determined to return to Kelantan on foot to exercise his right to vote on Nov 19.

The determination of the Kepala Batas Community College student, Muhammad Haikal Noor Azmin, 18, to vote caused him to make the decision after the bus ticket to return to his hometown was sold out.

It was understood that the 2D Animation Certification student was found by his lecturer, who happened to be on his way home around Jalan Bertam Indah 2 at about 7pm on Wednesday.

Haikal, also a person with a disability, was found walking and pushing luggage alone.

The Kepala Batas Community College director Ts Jasni Mohd Yusof said that the student, who was physically and mentally (speech) challenged looked tired but still wanted to continue the journey because it was his first experience to cast vote in this election.

"To ensure the safety and welfare of the student, Kepala Batas Community College took the initiative to send Haikal back to Kelantan for the purpose of casting his vote using the department's vehicle on Thursday.

"Contributions have been made by all Kepala Batas Community College staff to facilitate the student's travel arrangements," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian.

Meanwhile, Haikal said, he was touched by the help extended by the Kepala Batas Community College staff.
