'PN's victory proves rakyat not keen on PH-BN coalition' - Muhyiddin

PUTRAJAYA - Perikatan Nasional (PN)’s victory in Padang Serai and a narrow defeat in Tioman State Legislative Assembly (DUN) in the 15th General Election (GE15) prove that the people are not keen on the PH-BN coalition, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says.
The PN chairman said that the public was not confident in the ability of the coalition government led by PH to govern the country.
"Disappointed with the deception of PH and BN leaders during the GE15 campaign, many supporters of these two parties have switched to supporting the PN," he wrote in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday morning.
He said the results of voters in Padang Serai and Tioman also clearly showed that they did not approve of PH and BN.
"For me, PH and BN's deception in GE15 is the biggest election fraud," he said.
PN candidate Datuk Azman Nasrudin snatched the PH seat after winning a majority of 16,260 votes.
Azman obtained 51,637 votes, while PH candidate Dr Mohamad Sofee Razak obtained 35,377 votes and Datuk C Sivaraj who gave way to the PH candidate managed to obtain 2,983 votes.
The Padang Serai parliamentary election saw a six-cornered contest between Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang), Parti Warisan (Warisan) and Independent candidates in addition to PN, PH and BN.
Meanwhile, in the Tioman state assembly, BN only narrowly won with 573 votes.
BN candidate Datuk Seri Johari Hussain obtained 8,080 votes while PN candidate Nor Idayu Hashim obtained 7,507 votes in a five-cornered competition.
In the meantime, Muhyiddin said the PN’s struggle was on the right track.
"I would like to congratulate Cikgu Azman Nasrudin on his excellent victory at Padang Serai.
To the PN candidate in Tioman, Nuridayu Hashim, continue your struggle with PN," he said.
