SHAH ALAM – Disciplinary action may be taken against principals or headmasters who failed to obey instructions specified by the Education Ministry on the standard operating procedure (SOP) of cash withdrawals.

The Muslim Teachers Association Malaysia (iGuru) president Mohd Azizee Hasan said based on the Treasury Directive (AP137) on Responsibilities For Cash On the Road, extra security measure such as escort service from the police was mandatory for RM10,000 and above.

“Two teachers must accompany the principal for withdrawal of up to RM10,000.

“If there is negligence and failure to follow procedures, the principal should be subjected to disciplinary measures for failure to follow instructions,” he said to Sinar.

Azizee also advised school administration to follow procedures to avoid risks.
