Phase two of MRT line 95 per cent completed

KUALA LUMPUR - Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) said that work on Phase Two of the Putrajaya Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line is more than 95 per cent completed and a final test will be carried out at the end of this month.

President and group chief executive officer Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah said work to complete it is being actively carried out through tests by MRT Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) officers and engineers, contractors and the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD).

"They are monitoring to ensure the tests being carried out pass the stipulated guidelines and, insyaAllah, it can be operational by March, although the date will be announced by the government (Transport Ministry),” he said.

He said this after a visit by a delegation from the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), which was headed by its chief executive officer Roslan Ariffin, at Menara UOA Bangsar, here, today.

Commenting on the visit, Mohd Azharuddin said it had triggered collaboration between Bernama and Prasarana to publicise and inform the public of the latest issues regarding the public transport system.

"This is a comprehensive collaboration in terms of giving suggestions as well as providing information to reporters, digital radio and television. This is also the first time we have forged a comprehensive collaboration with the media,” he said.

He explained that, during the visit, he received various proposals on how to improve the land public transport system in the capital besides the establishment of a collaboration between both agencies. - Bernama
