LRT services at six stations closed starting Sunday

KUALA LUMPUR - Operations of six Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations on the Ampang-Sri Petaling line will be suspended from Sunday (April 2).

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said in a statement that the stations involved were Bandaraya, Sultan Ismail, PWTC, Titiwangsa, Sentul and Sentul Timur.

It was said the operation was closed due to Bandaraya and Sentul Timur stations no longer meeting the operational criteria.

"It had to be taken out of service for safety reasons.

"The structural and track damage near Bandaraya LRT station caused the trains not being able to return to Ampang LRT Depot to undergo maintenance works since Jan 27.

According to the statement, in order to accomodate the needs and facilitate the journey of affected passengers, Rapid Rail will provide free express bus services on LRT 13 and LRT 14 as well as LRT 11 bus service starting this Sunday.

The bus service routes include LRT 11 (LRT Masjid Jamek-LRT Bandaraya-LRT PWTC-LRT Titiwangsa-LRT Sentul-LRT Sentul Timur), LRT13 (LRT Masjid Jamek-LRT Sentul-LRT Sentul Timur) and LRT14 (LRT Masjid Jamek-LRT Titiwangsa ).

Rapid Rail said as many as 40 buses will operate with a frequency of between 10 to 15 minutes during peak hours, depending on the traffic conditions.

"To facilitate travel, all bus services will use special bus lanes that have been prepared.
