'Her body was dehydrated, her lungs had shrunk', says father of toddler who died of heat stroke

KOTA BHARU - A 1-year old girl from Kampung Kota, here, was the second victim who died from heat stroke.

According to a report by Astro Awani, the victim, who was an only child was Nur Imani Ahmad Faris Fazli.

The victim’s father Ahmad Faris Fazli Mohd Nasir said his daughter was suffering from a severe cough since a week ago and started vomiting a few days ago.

“The post-mortem found that the cause of death was due to heat stroke. The water in her body had dried up, her lungs shrunk,” he said, today.

He said Imani was in critical condition on Monday and was taken to a private clinic before being sent to a hospital.

He said after the victim was brought to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZII), her condition had worsened and she became weak and cold.

“The doctors on duty at the emergency unit gave her medicine and asked us to bring our child back home.

“The doctor allowed us to go back, I had no idea, I wanted her to be warded as she was already weak,” he said.

It was reported that an 11-year-old boy from Kampung Perupok, Bachok was the first victim to die from heat stroke on Tuesday.

The victim, Muhamad Syamil Aqil died at 9.27am while receiving treatment at a clinic.

His mother known as Wanie said the autopsy result confirmed that her eldest son died of heat stroke and dehydration.
