KOTA KINABALU - Statements released by certain parties on obtaining sworn declaration (SD) are mere political propaganda or gimmick, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said.

He further said that the unity government is currently stable.

"The stability of the unity government has been seen for six months with support of 148 seats in a full vote," he said, referring to vote of confidence held in Dec 2022 which saw Anwar securing 148 out of 222 votes.

"Due to that, the statements out there are a political propaganda or gimmick," he told reporters at a press conference after attending the 2023 Malaysian Cocoa Board (LKM) Appreciation Ceremony here on Monday.

He said this when asked whether the Unity Government National Convention held on Sunday could reduce the heat in politics when related to the opposition's claims of having enough SDs.

The Plantation and Commodities Minister reminded all politicians that the ruling government must be stable to restore investors confidence.

"We must focus on repairing the economy after the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Only with unity can the other issues be fixed from economy, financial recovery and we can finally provide aid to the people, in addition to focusing on the country's development," he said.

On May 1, Anwar did not deny that there was a bid to topple the unity government but said the plot did not have any strong basis and described those behind it as daydreamers.
