KUALA LUMPUR - Those reselling Coldplay concert tickets at unreasonable price will be subjected to legal action.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said action will be taken under the Consumer Protection Act 1999 (Act 599).

However, he said the Ministry has not received any official complaints regarding these scalpers.

"Reselling the ticket at RM43,000 is outrageous. I know the people are smart so don't buy from these scalpers, buy from verified agents.

"If there is an official complaint, we can advise the consumer and there is also the Consumer Protection Act 1999 (Act 599) that we can use (to take action against the seller)," he told reporters after the Malaysia International Franchise Exhibition and Conference 2023 (FIM2023) Opening Ceremony, here, today.

The existence of accounts selling Coldplay concert tickets on various platforms had gone viral on social media, where it was said to be run by scammers.

Additionally, a scalper who had reselled the band's concert tickets at a price of up to RM43,000 received criticism from netizens.

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has been instructed to take action on Coldplay ticket resale advertisements on social media.
