Nine teenagers arrested over school fights

GEORGETOWN - Police have arrested nine teenagers to assist in an investigation into two fighting incidents at a secondary school in Butterworth recently.
Penang police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chin said eight of them were students, while one teen is no longer in school.
He said all of those who are underage were arrested on Friday and released today.
"I can confirm that there have been arrests for two different cases at the school. The arrests were made yesterday. They were detained separately in Butterworth and were released on police bail today.
"So far we have arrested nine teenagers for questioning," he said when met at the Tanjong MP Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House, here, today.
He said both cases are being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing harm and Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
Previously, two separate fight incidents at the same school had gone viral on social media and received various reactions from netizens.
One of them, a 32-second clip, showed a male student being punched and kicked repeatedly by several students.
It was believed to have happened in the school toilet, and the video has been circulated on social media since yesterday.
