LANGKAWI - The country’s defence personnel should be prepared to face any new challenges, said the Regent of Perlis, Brigadier General Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

He said they should always work together and be united in facing any challenges that might arise.

"All personnel are urged to close ranks and work as a team to serve as a bulwark of defence for the country so that our coming generations can inherit this country,” said His Highness, who is commander of Regiment 504 of the Malaysian Territorial Army.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said this when visiting the maritime segment of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (Lima '23) at Resort World Langkawi today.

Also present was Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Major (Honorary) Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

"Uncertainties in global geopolitics and geo-economy have the potential to spark an economic crisis which can reduce our ability to develop national defence capability in a comprehensive manner," Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said.

His Highness also visited South Korean warship Roks No Jeok Bong and Italian warship Francesco Morosini.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin was received by Italian ambassador to Malaysia Massimo Rustico and Roks No Jeok Bong commanding officer Kim Sang Hyun during the visits. - BERNAMA
