MAKKAH - A 57-year-old female haj pilgrim from Raub Pahang died in Makkah on June 4 due to heart failure.

Malaysian Haj Delegation head Datuk Seri Syed Saleh Syed Abdul Rahman said the woman was admitted to the Tabung Haji (TH) Makkah Treatment Centre for further treatment at 9pm before being pronounced dead at 11.50pm.

"The body was managed and the final rites was held at the Haram Mosque after Zohor prayer and buried at the Syariee Cemetery in Makkah.

"The pilgrim arrived via flight KT05 in Madinah on May 22 with her husband and stayed for six days in Madinah before leaving for Makkah," he said at a weekly press conference at TH Makkah Headquarters in Abraj Janadriyah.

He said that TH's counsellors had visited the deceased's husband who was also in Makkah to perform haj, and they would arrange the haj compensation for the deceased.

In the meantime, he said a total of 37 pilgrims were treated at the TH Treatment Centre in Makkah while another 10 were at the Saudi Arabian Hospital at the moment.

The pilgrims were admitted due to respiratory problems, lung infections, heart problems, emotional disorders, skin pain, muscle and joint pain.

Syed Saleh also advised pilgrims to continue to care for their health and not be too exposed to the sun considering the hot weather in Makkah.
