50-year-old woman injured by parang-wielding robber
KOTA TINGGI - A woman sustained injuries on her chin as she was hit by parang in a robbery incident at Felda Air Tawar 4, near here, yesterday.
Kota Tinggi district police chief Superintendent Hussin Zamora said the 50-year-old victim was home alone when the robbery happened at 12.40pm.
"While the victim was sleeping in her room, the masked suspect broke into the house carrying a parang.
"The suspect tried to suffocate the victim until she fell on the floor but then a fight ensued and the suspect swung the parang and hit the victim on the chin," he said in a statement today.
Hussin said the suspect managed to steal a gold bracelet the victim was wearing before he fled.
"The victim who suffered injuries on her chin is reported to be in a stable condition now and suffered a loss of approximately RM3,000.
"Telok Sengat police received a report regarding the incident at 3.31pm and the case is currently being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code," he said.
