KUALA LUMPUR - The controversial action of UK band The 1975 is an isolated incident said Arts, Live Festival and Events Association (ALIVE) chairman Para Rajagopal.

"In my 30 years of experience, I never seen such incident happen, its an isolated issue, many popular artisted such as Billie Eilish have come before and it was a fun experience.

"Hence, I plead to media to focus on the positives instead of the negatives," he said at a press conference addressing the cancellation of the Good Vibes Festival.

Commenting further, Rajagopal added the situation has made it tough for event organisers.

"It's tough for us as we need to engage with those who come to perform here professionally, and we really don't know how the conduct themselves in their private lives,"he said

Last week, the government cancelled the three-day Good Vibes Festival after the lead singer of The 1975, Matty Healy, criticised the country’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual (LGBT) laws before kissing his male bandmate on the very first day.

The band has since been blacklisted from performing in Malaysia.
