SHAH ALAM – Former Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Rina Harun said her nomination for the state polls was by 'accident'.

"I did not mean to nominate myself as a candidate since I want to make way for other women under Perikatan Nasional (PN) or Srikandi Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, but because I was asked to come forward as a candidate by the President himself, I felt obliged to

"It is not easy but insya-Allah, it can be done, but we will work hard for it as what we're seeing now is just disappointment from a lot of broken promises by the federal government in the last seven months," she said when speaking to reporters at her nomination as the PN candidate for Batu Tiga here at Dewan Besar Tanjung, MBSA, Seksyen 19 earlier today.

I will use my experience as a former cabinet minister to think up of ways to help improve the socioeconomic conditions of the people of Shah Alam and the infrastructure for the benefit of the people too," she said

Rina Harun arrived with her mother Taiyibah Rosli, 72, alongside N40 Kota Anggerik candidate Mohamed Sukri Omar.

They arrived with an estimated 500 supporters while singing late singer Sudirman Arshad's Warisan.

Meanwhile, the unity government candidate who aims to defend the Kota Anggerik seat Najwan Halimi arrived with some 1,000 supporters.

The Batu Tiga state state seat was previously held by Rodziah Ismail from Pakatan Harapan.
