SEREMBAN - PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim affirmed the party will punish members who had betrayed the party's struggle through the state election (PRN) this weekend.

Relating the party's act of betrayal to the history of Malay culture, Raja Mendeliar and Si Kitol, the Chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH) said that the actions of those involved will not be pardoned.

Anwar took the example of two state seats, namely Ampangan and Hulu Kelang, which were contested by former PKR members, Datuk Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

"(DUN) Ampangan is important (to be won) because there is betrayal within PKR.

"One thing that cannot be allowed (is) betrayal in the struggle.

"That's why I told Zahid (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi), I will go to Hulu Kelang again on Thursday night to teach the traitor," he said, when speaking at the Jelajah Perpaduan Madani Negeri Sembilan programme at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi, last night.

Previously, it was reported that the Ampangan state assembly seat incumbent, Rafie made a surprise contesting as an independent candidate when the party did not retain him in the seat.

PH nominated Seremban branch’s Ketua Wanita PKR, Tengku Zamrah Tengku Sulaiman to replace Rafie.

Meanwhile, on state polls, Anwar said that the campaigning period involving the cooperation of PH and Umno is a new attempt to strengthen the spirit of unity for the sake of saving the country and elevate Malaysia as a great country in the eyes of the world.

"In the negotiations between PH and Umno, we decided first, (respect) the principles of the Constitution if we want to save the country and bring change.

"If we want to raise the dignity of the Malays and others, make Malaysia the best country in Southeast Asia.

"We have to move the old way to the new way, and this is what we are doing," he said.
