KUALA LUMPUR - The police received a report about a man who recited prayers in a ceremony that involved rituals of different religions.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said that the report was received on Aug 22.

"So far, we have received one report regarding the incident.

"The investigation regarding the report was carried out by the Classified Crime Investigation Unit (USJT) of Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department," he said at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters (IPK) here on Friday.

He advised the public not to make any assumptions about the case, cautioning them to check first before sharing anything online.

"Don't let your fingers share something too quickly. When it goes viral, there are going to be huge consequences. Check the validity of the news and its implications," he said.

Last Wednesday, Sinar Harian reported that the Federal Territory Islamic Department (Jawi) will investigate further into the issue to ensure that the practice does not involve any elements that violate the jurisprudence or fatwa.

Separately, commenting on the half-naked belly dancers in Bukit Bintang that went viral on social media recently, Allaudeen said that the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has taken action against them.

"Action had been taken by DBKL. In fact, the premise had also been closed," he said.

Prior to that, a video showing a number of women dancing while being inappropriately dressed in Bukit Bintang had gone viral on Facebook.
