SHAH ALAM - The claim made by Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) deputy president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz that she is blacklisted from holding any position in registered societies is incorrect.

Instead, the Registrar of Societies (RoS) said the action against the Puteri Wangsa assemblyman was following the cancellation of the Persatuan Ekonomi Merdeka registration (Registration no: PPM002-10-03112017) though a notice issued under Section 13(1)(c)(iv) on Oct 28, last year.

RoS emphasised that the action was guided by proper investigation and legal process.

"It is also based on the powers enshrined in the Societies Act 1966," it said in a statement, today.

Yesterday, it was reported that the High Court granted Amira leave to initiate a judicial review to challenge RoS’ action blacklisting her from holding any position in registered societies.

In an affidavit in support of her judicial review application dated July 13, Amira claimed that she found out that she had been blacklisted through an email from RoS dated April 18.
