SHAH ALAM - Muar MP Syed Saddiq clarified that his situation in obtaining a temporary passport was different from Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's case, where the prosecution team and the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) decided to halt the proceedings.

Syed Saddiq explained that when he applied for a temporary passport, the Attorney-General objected, and he had to go through lawyers to argue his case in court.

"I received my temporary passport through the court process.

"Alhamdulillah, the judge believed our arguments, and the passport was returned. That's the proper legal process," he said in a Facebook post earlier today.

The Kuala Lumpur High Court granted Syed Saddiq's application for a temporary passport, allowing him to attend a youth leadership forum in Indonesia on Tuesday.

Syed Saddiq pointed out that Zahid's case had been ongoing for four years and had faced multiple delays, involving 100 witnesses and thousands of documentary proofs.

"We were in the final stages when, one by one, 'miraculous' events started happening.

"The case was dismissed, not by the court or judge, but due to the appointment of a new attorney-general by the government," he explained.

He urged the public not to be easily swayed by those hungry for power and stressed the need to combat corruption instead of normalising it.

"Different promises were made in the past, but now, it's something else.

"On one hand, you fight against corruption, and on the other hand, you normalise it.

"Our nation's future is being pawned for the sake of power," he added.

On Monday, the Kuala Lumpur High Court decided to discharge, not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) Zahid on all 47 charges related to criminal breach of trust, corruption, and money laundering related to Yayasan Akalbudi funds.

The decision was made after considering the 11 reasons presented by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar to halt the case proceedings.

Zahid had previously submitted a 200-page representation letter to the AGC in a bid to have the charges against him dropped.
