SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) alleges that Kuala Kangsar member of parliament (MP) Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid's declaration to support the government was because he was threatened by a high-ranking officer from an agency related to the government.

PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said Iskandar Dzulkarnain was brought to meet the officer at a hotel in Damansara on Oct 1.

He added that the MP was threatened to be charged with corruption if he refused to sign a media statement that had been prepared earlier to support the government.

"Previously, on Sept 26, 2023, the Kuala Kangsar MP was visited by a business tycoon who was reportedly close to the prime minister at a location in Damansara.

He was forced to support the prime minister with promises of money and a post in several companies,” he said in a statement on Friday.

Iskandar Dzulkarnain on Thursday announced his support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership after examining the ongoing voter complaints and emphasising the push towards overcoming the cost of living in his area.

He stated he would not leave or betray Bersatu in any shape or form based on the principle of loyalty to the party.

Hamzah added that in a meeting with PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the Kuala Kangsar MP was seen as stressed due to the intimidation he faced.
