IPOH - Gerik Member of Parliament, Fathul Huzir Ayob declared his intention to remain with Perikatan Nasional (PN), denying several recent rumors and speculations.

He said rumors about his position as an MP, began to circulate following his resignation as the division secretary for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Gerik.

He clarified that the resignation was submitted as a sign of solidarity following the resignation of the acting leader.

"The issue with Bersatu Gerik is one involving a party that belongs to PN, it should not be connected to my status as a PN MP," he said in a Facebook post on Thursday.

"I remain as a PN MP and will never step down from the opposition nor express support for the government today. My loyalty cannot be bought and sold,”

Meanwhile, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid on October 12, had declared his support for Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Iskandar said he had taken the decision after examining the continuous complaints from his contituents on the rising cost of living in his area.

The following day, PN Secretary General, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin claimed that Iskandar Dzulkarnain was threatened with corruption if he refused to sign a media statement that had been written in advance to support the administration.

However, Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi denied the opposition's claim that Iskandar's action in supporting the leadership of the current Unity Government was done under certain pressure.

Iskandar then clarified that him endorsing the government's leadership was made out of his own volition.
