KOTA BHARU - The Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (Abim) has received information that its Global Peace Mission (GPM) office in Palestine was destroyed by a Zionist regime bombing during the recent attack last Wednesday.

The attack damaged a three-story building located in North Gaza, which housed the operational office equipment on the top floor.

Kelantan Abim deputy chairman Saifulnizam Muhamad said they received information about the incident through a Palestinian, Dr Tareq al Talmas, who is also the GPM general manager.

He said the office used in their mission to assist the Palestinian people had been destroyed.

He added that it was even more heart-wrenching to learn that Israel had also bombed Dr Tareq's own house.

"We contacted Dr Tareq yesterday and we are thankful that he and his family are safe, even though the office building and his house collapsed in the incident.

"Dr Tareq is now continuing the mission to assist the Palestinian people alongside five other GPM volunteers who are residents.

“However, the fate of other volunteers under GPM is still unknown," he said after a solidarity with Palestine gathering at Dataran Rehal today.

Also present were Himpunan Kasih chairman Abu Samah Hassan and Kota Lama assemblyman Dr Hafidzah Mustakim.

Saifulnizam added that the status of the food project, involving a chicken farming facility under their organisation, remained uncertain.

Nevertheless, financial aid to the country was being continued because the banking system was still functioning.

"Thus far, assistance in the form of 16,000 items, including hot meals, canned food and drinking water has been distributed to the Palestinian people and will be continued from time to time," he added.

Meanwhile, Kelantan Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE) chairman Abdul Rahman Salleh said approximately 1,000 individuals participated in the solidarity gathering, representing 25 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from across Kelantan.

He added that the participants included women protesting against the Israeli Zionists' cruelty towards the Islamic population in Gaza, particularly children and women.

"We will continue to assist our brothers and sisters who are facing difficulties and hardships due to the attack by Israel.

"We chanted 'from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free'," he said.
