GAZA - Hamas stated on Tuesday that the power outage at the Indonesian Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, resulting from a fuel shortage, amounts to a "crime against humanity."

They called on Arab and Muslim nations as well as the United Nations (UN) to take action to address the crisis.

According to Hamas, these power outages are a consequence of Israel's ongoing aggression against Gaza since Oct 7.

"A disgrace for the countries that turn a blind eye or joined the occupation in its aggression and genocide committed against our people and unarmed civilians,” the group said in a statement published in the Jerusalem Post newspaper as reported by Anadolu Agency.

Hamas cautioned against the severe repercussions of neglecting the fuel crisis, as it endangers the lives of patients and wounded individuals in hospitals.

The Indonesian Hospital in Gaza became inoperable on Monday due to vital facilities being disrupted by the power outage, as reported by medical sources.

The Gaza Health Ministry issued a warning early Tuesday, stating that hospital electric generators will cease functioning within the next 48 hours due to the fuel shortage.

Ministry spokesperson Ashraf Al-Qudra emphasised the urgent need to prioritise aid distribution to hospitals. He urged the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross to advocate for the supply of fuel and blood units to support the healthcare sector in the besieged Gaza Strip.
