KUALA LUMPUR - Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has described the current Israeli attacks on Palestine as genocide.

He said the situation in the region cannot be labelled as a 'conflict' between Hamas and Israel but rather a humanitarian crisis of catastrophic proportions.

"This is not a war but a genocide," he said during a speech at the Pas Palestine Solidarity rally here today.

Addressing the crowd at the rally, Faizal added that the conflict in the region has created a relentless cycle of violence that has seemingly become a lucrative business.

"Every time a bomb is dropped, money is made raising questions about the ethics and morality of such a scenario.

"The mainstream media, represented by outlets like the BBC and CNN, have also been called out for its unfair coverage of the situation," he said.

Faizal added that billions of dollars have been spent on military operations, where the United States have reportedly allocated $15 billion.

He also talked about whether such actions align with democratic principles and the core values of the international community.

Furthermore, he said that hundreds of resolutions have been passed by international bodies with the aim of achieving peace and respecting international law.

"However, these resolutions have often been violated, prompting the question of what the international community is truly witnessing today.

"The governments should uphold international law, emphasising that adherence to these principles is the only viable solution to the ongoing conflict.
