MENTAL health issues are not limited to adults; children also experience them.

The truth is that mental illnesses have no age limit, and anyone at any age, can become a patient.

According to the National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) report, 424,000 Malaysian children faced mental health issues in the previous year, and this number is on the rise, exacerbated by the impact of Covid-19.

Considering that children are the future pillars of the nation, this figure is not insignificant and necessitates a comprehensive solution.

Some parents may not be aware of changes in their children's behavior and may perceive them as normal developmental phases.

In reality, mental health issues in children can be defined as significant changes in the way they learn, behave, or cope with emotions that result in challenges and problems in their daily lives.

Anxiety, sadness, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are among the mental illnesses that frequently affect children.

Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa previously stated that one of the factors contributing to children's mental health issues is the lack of attention from their parents or guardians.
