KLANG - Klang's relentless fight against corruption received a boost as the Rasuah Busters team was recognised by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) at its 2023 Community Awards Ceremony.

The team, lauded for its role in "Hari Klang Tanpa Kenderaan" (Klang Car-Free Day), was presented with an award by MPK President Datin Paduka Noraini Roslan.

The ceremony, held earlier today at a local hotel, saw Local Government and Tourism Exco Ng Suee Lim officially commend the council's commitment to various initiatives throughout the year.

These included community engagement programmes like strata community meetings, car-free days, and green neighborhood projects.

"MPK has actively pursued environmental initiatives like tree planting, recycling, and river care," highlighted Noraini, further highlighting the council's alignment with the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

She listed ongoing projects like MyPlace, bicycle and pedestrian lanes, smart city initiatives, and urban rejuvenation plans as key contributors to creating a sustainable and livable Klang.

The "Hari Klang Tanpa Kenderaan," held last June under the theme "Malaysia Without Corruption," served as a significant milestone in the collaboration between MPK and Rasuah Busters.

As MPK's Corporate Communications Director Norfiza Mahfiz aptly pointed out, the joint initiative aimed to educate both MPK staff and the public about rejecting all forms of bribery.
