SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) needs to abandon any 'backdoor government' attempts to take over the government because any political maneuver at this time is contrary to the wishes of the people who want a more stable government formation.

Political analyst Dr Noor Nirwandy Mat Noordin said the position of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was sufficiently secured with a strong majority to remain steadfast as the government, and it needed to be respected by allowing the leadership of the unity government to continue.

He said the opposition needed to recreate a safe, mature and stable democratic system without any disruptions to overthrow the government, but rather focus on national development.

"Issues related to maneuvers like 'backdoor government' or movements to overthrow the government should not be normalised in the country because it will distance society from politics.

"It needs to be stopped.

"The community is increasingly tired of the behavior of politicians since GE15 (15th General Election), which witnessed several changes resulting in a change of government, ultimately giving the country a negative image.

"This will result in the emergence of groups that continue to try to disrupt the country's politics in the wrong definition of democracy," he told Sinar.

He was commenting on a recent report that indicated attempts to overthrow the unity government through the so-called 'Dubai Move'.

According to Noor Nirwandy, in the context of a country recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic, PN needed to continue to generate quality innovations and be a responsible opposition in providing a check and balance against the leadership and governance of the country.

He said political stability was a crucial element to ensure the governance and administration of the country can proceed smoothly.

"Of course, we want a form of stability and an effective opposition that can provide opinions to ensure government policies run smoothly.

"This is important in facing the challenges of the New Year 2024 until GE16, so mature democracy needs to be maintained and democratic government stability needs to be respected for the sake of the people's interests," he said.
