In the realm of Malaysian entertainment, singer and actor Alif Satar has become more than just a performer; he's now become the motivation driving an inspirational movement.

Despite his popularity from songs like ‘Jangan Nakal’, Alif has inspired about 3,000 people with his project, #GengSubuhMacamJumaat, which calls on people of all ages to participate in morning prayers together.

The viral phenomenon started on social media platforms like TikTok, X and Instagram.

Alif, whose real name is Muhammad Alif Mohd Satar, used his social media to invite followers to share the experience of ‘subuh’ prayers at the mosque, sweetening the deal with promises of free breakfast and the joy of coming together on weekends.

The #GengSubuhMacamJumaat movement was launched in November of last year.

Initially, he gathered friends around his residential areas to enhance the ambiance of the mosque before ‘subuh’ prayers.

As the movement gathered traction, he reached a wider audience, providing updates on developments on multiple platforms and encouraging more people to participate in morning prayers.

Alif also made an invitation to the public, urging them to join in congregational morning prayers at Saidina Umar Al-Khattab Bukit Damansara Mosque in Kuala Lumpur on Jan 1, even featuring prominent Islamic figures including Firdaus Firabib, Fadhil Abd. Rahman, Yaakub Yusra, and the popular content creator known among youths, Kokom.

Alif's effort has not only gained momentum but also brought together about 3,000 people for morning prayers and lectures at Bukit Damansara's Saidina Umar Mosque.

This highlighted the accomplishment, demonstrating the strength of a common goal.

Alif has extended the movement outside of the mosque by introducing a five-kilometre "fun run," which encourages a healthy lifestyle consistent with Islamic teachings.

He attends several mosques in Kuala Lumpur, demonstrating his continued dedication engaging and invigorating congregations.

The movement started by Alif also received attention from Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa who expressed admiration for Alif's effort and conveyed her desire to enhance congregational prayer activities at mosques in Kuala Lumpur.

Social media has become a platform for the public to express their appreciation for Alif's movement. Comments flooding his Instagram posts laud him as an inspiration and commend him for using his celebrity status to promote positive change.

User @nizyan8 said, "May Allah ease everything, Alif! You are such an inspiration."

Muslims believe that there are rewards in the hereafter as well as in this world for responding to this call upon congregational prayer.

The movement encourages youth to continue doing good deeds at their neighbourhood mosques and suraus, acting as a ray of hope to the once dimmed buildings during subuh congregational prayers.
