PUTRAJAYA - The family of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak expresses disappointment over the Pardons Board's decision not to grant him a full pardon and release him from jail immediately.

In an Instagram post, his daughter Nooryana Najwa affirmed the family's stance that her father was innocent.

"Although we appreciate the reduction of the sentence from 12 years to six years decided by the Pardons Board after consideration of opinions and advice, we are disappointed that Najib was not granted a full pardon and released immediately.

"Those who follow the SRC International case closely know and agree with the judgment by the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, last year that a great injustice has been done to Najib and the right decision is that he should be acquitted and discharged," Nooryana said.

She said this in response to the decision made by the Pardons Board for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya during the 61st meeting on Jan 29 to reduce Najib's jail term by 50 per cent.

The Federal Territories Pardons Board, the Prime Minister’s Department’s Legal Affairs Division as the board’s secretariat agreed for Najib to be released on Aug 23, 2018.

His fine of RM210 million was reduced to RM50 million.

On July 28, 2020, the Kuala Lumpur High Court found him guilty of seven charges, three of which were for criminal breach of trust (CBT), three money laundering charges and a single count of abuse of power involving RM42 million funds belonging to SRC International.
