KUALA LUMPUR - The #Reformasi100Peratus rally held by the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) today aims to bring about significant progress towards a better and more just society.

Its chairman Muhammad Faisal Abdul Aziz said the electoral watchdog’s primary concern was that the remaining four years of the government's mandate, entrusted by the people, may pass without substantial structural reforms taking place.

"This is why we are gathered here today to remind the government that during this crucial period, we demand to witness tangible progress towards a better and more just society.

"We adamantly oppose any manifestation of double standards, firmly reject the practice of granting a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) and condemn all forms of corruption.

"We must exhibit the courage of a fighter in our actions, embody the spirit of resilience and determination in our pursuit of justice and reforms," he said.

Faisal said today also marked the beginning of Bersih’s collective endeavour.

"In collaboration with other non-governmental organisations (NGO), we aim to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to taking action and to serve as a constant reminder to all MPs including those in the opposition of the urgent need to prioritise and implement the reform agenda," he added.

Earlier today, participants of the rally, led by Bersih gathered at Tugu Negara as early as 7.30am and started marching towards the Parliament building at 8am.
