TAMPIN - A panther was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Jalan Tampin-Kuala Pilah on Monday night.
Negeri Sembilan Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) Director, Faizal Izham Pikri said his team arrived at the scene shortly after receiving a report at 11pm.
“The Gemas District Perhilitan Office was informed that an adult male panther had been struck by a vehicle.

"The animal, estimated to weigh between 40 to 50 kilogrammes, was found lying by the roadside,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
He added that no vehicles were found at the scene and details of the vehicle and driver remain unknown.
An inspection also revealed signs of a collision on the metal guardrail.

The Malayan Tiger Conservation Unit of Negeri Sembilan and the Seremban District Perhilitan team later transported the panther’s remains to Perhilitan Negeri Sembilan for further action.
“The public and road users should remain cautious when driving in dark areas or near forests, especially in areas known for wildlife crossings,” he said.
