Husband blows entire salary at nightclub, wife left struggling

KUALA LUMPUR - A local woman in her 30s has raised concerns over her husband’s frequent visits to an entertainment centre in Sri Petaling, claiming he spends his entire salary there in pursuit of Vietnamese women.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said her husband’s behaviour started a year ago, leaving her to struggle with household expenses.

"Before this, he would give me money for household needs, but ever since he started going to nightclubs, he spends his entire salary there every month," she said.

She revealed that her husband visits the club multiple times a week, leading her to file a complaint and call for action against the premises.

In response, the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department initiated "Op Gegar" on Thursday, raiding the entertainment centre.

Kuala Lumpur Immigration Director Wan Mohammed Saupee Wan Yusoff said the operation, which began at 12.40am, inspected 90 individuals, including visitors and employees.

Among them, three were locals, while the rest comprised 16 Thais, six Laotians, five Myanmar nationals, and four Vietnamese.

"The detained women are suspected to be guest relations officers (GROs) who receive tips for accompanying customers for drinks and entertainment.

"The locals are believed to be managers, bouncers and caretakers of the foreign women," he said when contacted by Sinar.

Authorities found that several detained foreigners lacked valid passes or had violated the conditions of their permits.

All foreign detainees were taken to the Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot for further investigation under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.

Meanwhile, the detained locals are being investigated under Section 56(1)(d) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for harbouring undocumented immigrants.
