SHAH ALAM - Selangor Road Transport Department (RTD) Director Azrin Borhan urged drivers to take necessary precautions for a safe and hassle-free journey home during the Hari Raya holiday.

Earlier yesterday, he joined members of the public in breaking fast at Karangkraf's Iftar Ala Madinah, using the occasion to deliver a crucial message on road safety ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri travel season.

"I am looking forward to breaking my fast today at Karangkraf's Iftar Ala Madinah with my team and members of the public.

“This gathering is not only an opportunity to share a meal in the spirit of togetherness but also a meaningful platform to highlight important messages, particularly on road safety as we approach the festive season," he said.

With thousands set to return to their hometowns, Azrin urged all road users to stay vigilant and make safety a top priority.

“Before hitting the road, make sure your vehicle is in good condition—inspect the brakes, signal lights, tyres and other essential components to prevent any unexpected issues. Plan your journey wisely to avoid peak-hour traffic and ensure you get adequate rest before driving to stay alert on the road.

“Most importantly, obey traffic regulations, remain patient and avoid speeding, as reaching your destination safely should always be the top priority," he advised.

Karangkraf’s Iftar Ala Madinah, which concluded today, has been a significant event throughout Ramadan.

Also present during the event was Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department officer assistant superintendent Harun Umar.

He described the lively and well-organised atmosphere at Dataran Karangkraf as unique, as his team rarely participates in such events.

“I was invited here to share information about the road safety campaign, considering that many people have started travelling back to their hometowns.

“So, I took this opportunity to provide guidance and safety measures for those returning home for Raya,” he said.

Over the past four weeks, the programme provided free iftar meals, welcoming between 1,000 to 1,500 guests daily and fostering a communal dining experience reminiscent of Madinah.
