Viral video: Orphans locked up, fed expired food at Cheras care centre
The video also featured interviews with several children, who claimed that the caretaker often acted irrationally and fed them expired or nearly expired food.

KUALA LUMPUR – A viral video has surfaced showing a group of orphans allegedly being locked up at a care centre in Cheras.
In the video shared on Instagram by Malaysia Fight League, it was claimed that the children were kept in conditions similar to being "caged like animals" on the upper floor of the care centre.
The group also alleged that they were not allowed to give the children any gifts or food and that donations meant for the children never actually got to them.
"The orphanage asked us to donate clothes, so we brought along 22 gifts, clothes and some pizza. But when we arrived, only half of the children came down to see us.
"What was even more strange was that we were told we couldn’t give them any gifts or food because the children were ‘naughty’ even though just a few days earlier, the caretaker knew we were coming with presents and food.
"The female caretaker asked us to just drop off the items and leave, but we weren’t okay with that as we wanted to stay a while and speak to the children.
"The children told us that many of their friends were locked in rooms upstairs. When we went up, we saw they were being kept in conditions that felt more like cages," the group said.
The video also featured interviews with several children, who claimed that the caretaker often acted irrationally and fed them expired or nearly expired food.
One of the children said some of the staff had quit, allegedly because they could not put up with the woman's (caretaker) behaviour and due to issues with their salary.
“She did give us food like rice and meat, but it was usually close to expiring.
"The staff also left because she lied about the salary they were promised which was RM1,800 but only got RM1,500.
"We’re also not sure if she’ll even give us these clothes. We usually just get old ones," one of the children said in the video.
Meanwhile, the group said it lodged a police report and reported the matter to the Social Welfare Department, but no action has been taken to date.
