Dedication at the polls: Officer, new mother cast Ayer Kuning votes

BIDOR - Despite facing health challenges, a retiring police officer successfully fulfilled his final responsibility by participating in early voting for the Ayer Kuning by-election today.
Corporal Mahamat Udin, 60, was among 500 early voters at the Senior Officers Recreation Hall of Battalion 3, General Operations Force (PGA) in Bidor on Tuesday.
"Even though my health has been poor following a motorcycle accident in Bidor six years ago, I made it a point to arrive early and fulfill this duty.
"This is my first time physically voting in person. Previously, I voted by post," he added.

Meanwhile, an Orang Asli woman in her confinement period also cast her early vote while carrying her 32-day-old baby.
Surya Mat, a 40-year-old housewife, said she started preparing at 7am before her husband accompanied her to the polling station.
"I had no choice but to bring my youngest child, Shane Alfie Shukor, as he is still very small and there was no one to look after him.
"Fortunately, I didn’t have to queue for long as the EC staff provided great assistance. The voting process was swift," she said.
Early voting for the Ayer Kuning by-election began today, with a strong voter turnout reported in the initial hours.
