Anthony Loke takes responsibility for DAP’s failure to retain seats in Sabah
If confirmed, this would mark the first time since 2004 that DAP will have no representation in the state assembly.

SHAH ALAM – DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has taken full responsibility for the party’s stunning wipeout in the 17th Sabah state election, where it failed to retain a single seat it once held.
He acknowledged the outcome as a clear message from voters, saying the leadership must confront the hard truths behind the defeat.
Loke stressed that the party will now undertake a thorough reassessment of its weaknesses, promising internal reform and a renewed ground strategy to win back public confidence.
He vowed that DAP will not retreat from Sabah, but instead rebuild a stronger and more grounded for the battles to come.
“DAP Sabah failed to retain any of the seats it previously held. We accept and respect the decision made by voters in the eight constituencies contested by DAP.
“We also congratulate the parties and candidates who were given the mandate by voters in those areas,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

DAP contested eight state seats: Elopura (represented by Sabah DAP secretary and Sandakan MP Vivian Wong); Sri Tanjung (represented by Tawau DAPSY chief Philip Yap Wui Lip); and Luyang (represented by Sabah DAPSY executive secretary Chan Loong Wei).
Meanwhile, Likas was represented by Sabah DAP chairman and former Luyang assemblyman Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe; Kapayan by Jannie Lasimbang; Tanjung Papat by Tang Szu Ching; Tanjung Aru by Sabah DAP deputy chairman and Deputy Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Chan Foong Hin and Kemabong by former Tenom MP Noorita Sual.
According to unofficial results, Warisan has won all six seats previously won by DAP in 2020 - Likas, Kapayan, Elopura, Luyang, Tanjong Papat and Sri Tanjong.
If confirmed, this would mark the first time since 2004 that DAP will have no representation in the state assembly.
Anthony added that DAP Sabah still has two MPs, and both will step up efforts in the Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan areas.
