JOHOR BAHRU - Four leaders of the Johor DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) announce their resignations, citing increasing commitments that make it difficult for them to continue serving at the state level.

The resignations were submitted on Monday at 7am by Johor Dapsy chief Loh Wei Jian, state secretary Suweeta Lam Xiao Wei, organising secretary Lee Jia Hau and committee member Lee Wan Chian.

They stated that balancing organisational responsibilities with work, family and personal commitments had become increasingly challenging.

“Johor is the only state where this party (DAP) is not part of the state government.

“After careful consideration, we voluntarily stepped aside to ensure the state wing can continue to function well and be better prepared for the upcoming elections,” Loh said in a statement.

He described the four individuals as the backbone of the state leadership and urged the National Secretariat to expedite the process of electing new office bearers.

He added that a new leadership line-up must be determined quickly so that their successors have enough time to set the direction of the state wing and strengthen outreach to young voters ahead of the Johor state election and the next general election.

Wei Jian also clarified that he and Lam will continue serving in their roles within the National Dapsy Committee, as the resignations only involved their positions at the Johor state level.

He expressed full support for national Dapsy chief Woo Kah Leong and reaffirmed the youth wing’s four core priorities: the abolition of the Universities and University Colleges Act (AUKU), standardisation of university admissions, the revival of political education and the recruitment of young talent.

He stated that as the national director of Political Education, he would continue working closely with Woo to strengthen political education within the party.
