Mont Kiara fire victim had been living alone in apartment since 2021, police say
The 38-year-old victim, who worked as an artist, last contacted his family on Dec 6.

KUALA LUMPUR – The man who was found dead in a condominium unit fire in Mont Kiara on Wednesday is believed to have been living alone.
Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook, said the 38-year-old victim, who worked as an artist, had been living in the condominium since 2021.
“The victim was unmarried and last contacted his family on Dec 6.
“He last reached out to them at 1pm last Saturday,” he said when contacted on Thursday.

Earlier, the man was found on the balcony with 100 per cent burn injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry’s (KKM) personnel.
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Operations Centre (PGO), in a statement, said an emergency call regarding the fire was received through the NG999 system.
Following the alert, firemen from the Sri Hartamas Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) along with teams from BBP Menjalara, BBP Sentul and BBP Taman Tun Dr Ismail were deployed to the scene.

Upon reaching the 26th floor of the building, the team found the unit fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighting and rescue operations began immediately but were met with difficulties as the building’s fire prevention system was not functioning properly.
Firemen had to use two portable pumps and the fire engine pump to channel water to the affected unit.
