KUCHING – Post-mortem examinations on a married couple found murdered at Taman Mutiara, Sri Aman, on Wednesday confirmed that both victims died from stab wounds.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said investigations into the case were still ongoing and being carried out thoroughly.

He said the post-mortems were conducted on Thursday at the Forensic Department of Sarawak General Hospital by a pathologist.

"The post-mortem on the male victim found 11 injuries caused by a sharp object to the neck and chest. The cause of death was confirmed as injuries to the neck and chest from stab wounds.

"For the female victim, the post-mortem found stab wounds to the neck. The cause of death was confirmed as injuries to the neck from stab wounds," he said in a statement on Friday.

Zainal said statements have so far been recorded from 21 witnesses, including family members, neighbours and the victims’ colleagues.

"However, the actual motive for the incident is still under investigation and has yet to be fully determined.

"The Sarawak police wish to stress that the investigation is being carried out professionally, transparently and based on forensic evidence and witness statements," he said.

He also advised the public not to speculate as it could disrupt the investigation and to respect the privacy of the victims’ family during this period.

The 45-year-old man and his 44-year-old wife were found dead at their home early Wednesday morning.

Both victims were discovered with serious injuries and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

It is understood that the male victim, Andy Roy Anak Junran, was a headmaster at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sebangki, while his wife, Angelin Kibin, worked as a nurse at Sri Aman Hospital.

The couple are survived by three children aged nine, 16 and 17.
