Will Earth really lose gravity for seven seconds on Aug 12?
A viral video claiming that Earth will lose gravity for seven seconds on Aug 12 has sparked widespread concern online.

A viral video claiming that Earth will lose gravity for seven seconds on Aug 12 has sparked widespread concern online, despite being dismissed by experts as baseless.
The clip alleges that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) has been secretly preparing for the event under a so-called “Project Anchor”, supposedly costing billions of dollars.
According to the conspiracy theory posted online, waves emitted from two colliding black holes would cause Earth’s gravity to disappear briefly.
It further claims that the US-based space agency has known about the phenomenon for more than 12 years and has constructed special bunkers for world leaders and high-profile individuals.
The video also estimates that between 40 and 60 million deaths could occur during the seven-second period.
However, Nasa has firmly denied the claims, stressing that Earth’s gravity depends on its mass and cannot simply disappear due to external cosmic events.
Experts have also clarified that the only astronomical event scheduled for Aug 12 is a total solar eclipse, which will be visible from parts of Europe and the Arctic, and has no effect on Earth’s gravity.
The spread of the false information has triggered mixed reactions among netizens, with some attempting to correct the narrative by explaining that gravity is not influenced by black hole collisions or similar phenomena.
