KUANTAN – The climbing journey of the Crown Prince of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, to the summit of Mount Kinabalu as part of the Mahkota Borneo Expedition was closely followed by netizens, with many "climbing along" through live videos on TikTok.
Among the live videos capturing moments of Tengku Hassanal's ascent was one shared on TikTok by Mount Kinabalu porter Jerry Junim, which garnered nearly 13,000 views.
The livestream showed portions of the atmosphere throughout the climb, which the Crown Prince of Pahang undertook together with his team, including other climbers making their way to Kinabalu's summit.
Additionally, through several other videos shared on the same platform, His Highness was seen casually entertaining greetings from fellow climbers throughout the ascent of Malaysia's highest mountain.
In another clip also shared by social media users, Tengku Hassanal appeared spirited and cheerful, openly admitting he was "enjoying" the climb.
His participation in the climbing mission received a positive response from netizens, the majority of whom were excited to follow developments during the journey through the TikTok livestream.
The live comment section was also flooded with various positive reactions, with many social media users describing Tengku Hassanal as friendly and down-to-earth even while taking part in the challenging activity.
Furthermore, many TikTok users were seen actively asking questions out of curiosity about the current state of his climb, including updates on the journey toward the summit and weather conditions in the mountain area.
The Crown Prince of Pahang began his ascent of Mount Kinabalu on Tuesday as part of the Mahkota Borneo Expedition.
He led the climbing party, which comprised 56 participants consisting of officers and members of the Royal Malaysian Air Force Special Forces (PASKAU), along with a close Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) escort.
The Mahkota Borneo Expedition reflects the spirit of leadership, physical resilience, and high discipline that His Highness consistently instils among the younger generation and the nation's security forces.
The climb is scheduled to span two days and one night, with climbers required to stay overnight at Panalaban before conquering the summit of Malaysia's and Southeast Asia's highest mountain, which stands at 4,095.2 metres above sea level.
