KUALA LUMPUR – Following his resignation as Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman on Jan 1, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been reappointed, this time as Deputy Chairman of the coalition.

PN Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the appointment was made during the coalition’s extraordinary Supreme Council meeting on Sunday.

Takiyuddin added that other deputy positions remain unchanged, with one exception involving Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

"I was just informed at noon today in my capacity as deputy secretary-general. Bersatu has appointed Tan Sri Muhyiddin as deputy chairman of Perikatan Nasional.

"The other deputies remain, except for Pas. The Pas president does not intend to be in the PN Supreme Council.

"He will only be in the Presidential Council," he said, noting that the meeting approved Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s resignation as PN chairman with effect from Jan 1, 2026.

“The meeting subsequently, and unanimously, appointed Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar as the new PN chairman with immediate effect,” he said.

Takiyuddin made the remarks during a press conference following the PN Supreme Council meeting at the Pas headquarters here today.
