SHAH ALAM – In a move that truly redefines "making your mark," the US State Department announced on Tuesday the upcoming release of a limited-edition passport celebrating America’s 250th birthday. The star of the show? None other than a stern-looking President Donald Trump.

By securing his place within the pages of the nation's travel document, Trump is shattering a long-standing norm becoming the first living president to be featured in an official US passport.

Approved late Monday after months of deliberation, the commemorative book is set to hit the Washington, D.C., passport office just in time for the July 4th festivities. If you happen to be applying in person at the D.C. office, consider this your new default identity though traditionalists can still opt for the "Trump-free" version online.

What makes this passport different? An interior page features Trump’s signature "stern" portrait.

His picture sits atop a gold imprimatur of his signature. The cover features a layout reversal, with "United States of America" in bold gold at the top and "Passport" at the bottom.

Meanwhile, the back cover sports a gold laminate American flag with "250" encircled by stars.

Historically, the US passport has been a "reserved for the archives" kind of document.

Currently, the only presidents making an appearance are carved in stone at Mount Rushmore — George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

By inserting himself alongside quotes from Martin Luther King Jr. and Dwight Eisenhower, Trump is not just joining an elite club; he's crashing it while he’s still in office.

“These passports will feature customised artwork and enhanced imagery while maintaining the same security features that make the US passport the most secure documents in the world,” said State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott.

This is not an isolated stroke of branding. The 250th-anniversary celebrations appear to be turning into a "Trump-centric" gala.

Efforts are already underway to including placing Trump’s signature on the all new US paper currency - another first for a sitting president), feature his likeness on a gold commemorative coin, and adding his name to the US Institute of Peace and the Kennedy Center.
