SHAH ALAM - Fans of Zayn Malik have been encouraged to channel their support into charitable contributions instead of sending flowers, after an outpouring of well-wishes overwhelmed a local florist during the singer’s recent health setback.

While details of the singer’s illness have not been publicly disclosed, his family has asked fans to remain calm, thanked them for their support, and encouraged donations to the Palestine Project instead.

A florist, The Hidden Bouquet, issued a statement on Instagram after receiving a surge in bouquet requests for the singer and his family.

“Due to the high volume of requests for bouquets for Zayn Malik and his family, we are unfortunately no longer able to take any further orders at this time. We truly appreciate the love and support shown.

“If you would still like to make a meaningful gesture, the Malik family would greatly appreciate donations being made to the Palestine Project via the link below.

"You are welcome to donate the amount you would have spent on a bouquet and leave a message of support there.

“The fundraiser will be checked by the family, and your kind words and contributions will go a long way,” the florist said.

Malik and The Hidden Bouquet both issued statements via their respective Instagram accounts.

The message was later shared by Malik’s cousin, Sasha Malik, who acknowledged the overwhelming response from fans while explaining the logistical challenges.

“We are so grateful for everyone who has reached out to send bouquets! Logistically, it just simply can not work.

“To clarify, the requests made to The Hidden Bouquet to send flowers to myself and my family were purely out of support and appreciation for our fundraiser throughout Ramadan,” she wrote on Instagram Stories.

The former One Direction pop star has maintained a relatively low profile since revealing last week that he had been hospitalised, without providing further details about his condition.

The announcement led to the cancellation of a planned album listening and Q&A session in Kingston, United Kingdom (UK), on April 13.

Addressing fans, the singer expressed disappointment at missing scheduled engagements while acknowledging their continued support.

“Heartbroken that I can not see you all this week, I would not be in the place I am today without you guys and am so thankful for your understanding,” he said.

The 33-year-old singer also thanked hospital staff, including doctors and nurses, for their care during his treatment.

The development comes amid a challenging period for the former One Direction member, who has long spoken about his complex relationship with fame. Malik departed the group in 2015, before it continued as a quartet and later entered what was described as a hiatus.

The group was further impacted by tragedy in 2024 following the death of Liam Payne at the age of 31.

Despite his recent health setback, Malik has indicated that he is on the path to recovery and intends to continue with selected tour dates. In a recent update, he shared that he had been recuperating at home and remained optimistic about returning to the stage.

Malik recently announced the cancellation of all United States (US) dates on his upcoming “Konnakol Tour” due to ongoing health concerns. In a message shared on May 1, he said he was unexpectedly recovering after a period of hospitalisation.

“I have been at home recovering and I’m doing well and will be better and stronger than before. I want to make sure I still get out and see as many of you as I possibly can.

“I am really looking forward to playing these shows for you and I hope to see the rest of you around the world very soon. Big Love, Z,” he wrote.

According to tour organisers, tickets purchased through official platforms will be automatically refunded, while those bought via third-party resellers will require direct coordination with the respective providers.

Nine tour dates across Europe and Latin America remain scheduled.
