KUALA LUMPUR - "I can't comment on that, you can ask the Perak menteri besar on that decision," said Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir when asked about the upcoming Perak state election.
The Lumut Umno division chief was addressing the recent state elections held in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, emphasising the party's primary commitment to national stability and governance over short-term political disputes.
Expressing a desire to avoid purely political wrangling, he highlighted the need to formulate strategic solutions for future challenges while leveraging political experience.
"We should maintain peace and deliver continuous service to the nation, despite existing shortcomings and political debates," Zambry said when met at the media centre at the 2026 Umno general assembly held at the World Trade Centre (WTC), Kuala Lumpur.
Touching on internal discussions, he noted that state representatives traditionally raise specific regional issues during the assembly, with delegates actively submitting suggestions and debating matters relevant to their respective states as part of the broader proceedings.
