SHAH ALAM - Several PKR leaders lodged a police report against former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak over alleged negligence to claims by the heirs of the Sulu sultanate.

Outside Dang Wangi Police station, PKR Youth leader Adam Adli said over 70 police reports were made so far and party members will continue to make the reports to urge police take action against Najib.

“As of now we are leaving it to the authorities to take action, " Adam told Sinar Harian.

Prior to this, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli had said Najib-led administration had failed to take legal action after halting the lease payment to the Sulu sultanate in 2013, which prompted the heirs to initiate their claims.

This comes after bailiffs seized Petronas’ two Luxembourg-registered subsidiaries, on behalf of their clients. Subsequently, the government said it had obtained a stay order against the enforcement of the French arbitration court ruling that ordered the government to pay US$14.92 billion to the heirs of the Sulu sultanate.

He said they now hope the police would open an investigating paper against Najib as the latter's move may cost the country money.

On Sunday, speaking at the PKR congress, Rafizi asked members to lodge police reports against Najib regarding the claim by heirs of the Sulu sultanate for billions in compensation for ceding sovereignty over Sabah.
