SHAH ALAM - The Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) report on the alleged multibillion-ringgit littoral combat ships (LCS) scandal was not produced by any single party.

Its chairman Wong Kah Woh said instead, the report was an outcome of a consensus by a team of 14 government MPs comprising three each from Umno and Bersatu, two each from DAP and Pas and one each from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), PKR, Amanah, and Warisan.

“A total of 14 MPs from different parties, we are united to ensure the people’s funds are protected. The decision was made by consensus,” he said in a Facebook post, today.

Wong was responding to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s Facebook postings disputing the report.

Najib had in one of his postings said the PAC chairman that audited the LCS project, was a DAP youth chief.

He claimed that he was never called to attend any meeting by the PAC regarding the project and alleged that the facts in the statement were inaccurate or not disclosed in the report.

In his post, Wong said he has left the position four years ago.

He also pointed out the fact that the LCS project kicked off in 2011 and that was when Najib held the position as prime minister.

Wong said according to the PAC report, the overall costing of the project was initially RM6 billion, but it was raised by another RM3 billion bringing the total to RM9.128 billion.

“I don’t understand how PM6 (Najib) misunderstood this.

“Maybe PM6 did not read the full PAC report,” Wong wrote.
