KUANTAN – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) needs to learn from Umno on what will happen if the Malay voters reject the party.

In saying this, Bersatu's supreme leadership council member, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah reminded Bersatu members that the party will not be an exception if Perikatan Nasional is careless.

He said the 2022 Umno General Assembly shows that the party is in a critical position and opined it could happen to Bersatu too if its leaders do not take this seriously.

"We view the situation happening to Umno (now) at World Trade Center (WTC) is critical and this could happen to Bersatu if we are not careful.

"We are not happy or cheering looking at the things happening now. This is actually a wake up call when the oldest Malay party in the country losses support from the Malays.

"This is a lesson for us not to make the same mistake. We can be happy for now that we (PN) have increased Malay support but once a upon a time, Umno was just the same," he added.

He said this during a press conference after the IM Dialog program on the latest developments and other issues at the Indera Mahkota Parliamentary Service Center office, here on Saturday.

Saifuddin who is Indera Mahkota parliament member explained that Umno should not blame others for the gradual loss of the Malays support.

He described the ongoing general assembly as 'chaotic'.

"I thought Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan's speech when officiating the gathering of the Umno Women,Youth and Puteri movement last Wednesday was disgraceful.

"I see that the assembly is messy this time, he (Mohamad) started accusing 10 parliament members as traitors, but he was not questioned why there was a secret agreement between Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim before the 15th General Election (GE15). This is a question which needs to be answered.

"Umno members are certainly upset by Mohamad's statement saying that Umno who has been fighting for so long, is losing Malay supports.

"The truth is, the decrease in support is not anyone else’s fault and has nothing to do with DAP, it is due to Umno's own weakness, it is a shame when Umno deputy president no longer showing interest fighting for the Malays," he explained.

Saifuddin refused to comment further on Umno's internal affairs as he is not a party member.
